Family Health Programme Coordinator
Inspired by her love for children and the desire to make a sustained difference in their lives, Kathryn facilitates a holistic approach to health and wellness which includes aspects of physical, emotional, social and spiritual health aimed at children and adults in rural areas.
Kathryn holds a Diplomas in General Nursing and Midwifery, Primary Health Care and Palliative Care and spent her early career working at mine hospitals on the West Rand. She has a further seven years’ experience working with mobile rural clinics and eight years’ experience as Director for Grahamstown and Area Hospices. She joined the Ubunye Foundation in 2007.
As part of the Foundation’s efforts to encourage adults and children to develop their full potential, Kathryn has designed an integrated health programme which includes working with government and other health service providers and partner organisations at local and district level to to improve health services in rural areas; developing and training health and wellness programmes; supporting child and family health at early childhood development sites and through home visiting; and coordinating a youth life skills programme.
According to Kathryn: “I believe we have a wonderful country with immense potential and we need to work together with love and respect in order to reach that potential in the fullest manner possible.”
