The Beautiful Toilet Project

The Children Had Three Wishes:
-
Safe
-
Not smelly
-
Use very little water
“We’ll fall in and drown.”
– Child at Lingelihle ECD Centre
Children are often too scared to use the toilets currently available at their centres. Imagine trying to learn, play, and grow while holding in your need to go – all day long. That’s the daily reality for many under-fives in Ngqushwa.
The Solution Chosen By the Children & Practitioners:
Eco Dry Toilets by Sanitation Ambassadors
-
Odour-free
-
Water-saving
-
Low-maintenance
-
Compost-generating
-
Built with handwashing basins and water harvesting systems
Each unit includes:
-
3 Toilets
-
Urinals
-
Handwashing station
-
Rainwater tank

Cost per Full Toilet Block:

What We Commit To Deliver:
Direct connection to impact
You’ll receive regular updates through blog posts, live content, and opportunities to visit ECD centres – so you can see the difference your support is making, in real time.
Lasting access to safe sanitation
Your contribution helps over 900 young children gain sustainable, safe, and dignified toilets – creating long-term change in how ECD centres operate and care for their learners.
A proven, replicable model
This project is designed to be shared. We’ll document and demonstrate the process so other NGOs, schools, and communities can adopt the same successful approach.
A community of practice and support
We offer expert facilitators, practical tools, and a growing support network to guide others in building eco-toilets and improving early learning environments across the country.
