Ubunye has started its new 5 years strategy!

Khokela ngokomzekelo - Leading by Example - is a pioneering strategy aimed at

ensuring Ubunye leads the way in ensuring community leadership remains front and

centre of the sustainable living agenda.

Our mission: "Where communities lead by example

building a path to sustainable living

that cares for our earth"

Khokela ngokomzekelo focuses on three actions:

Demonstrating community leadership - ensuring others know about Ubunye's

successful model of community leadership - Siyakhana, but also ensuring Siyakhana

grows into a stronger more independent agency.

Sharing ways of sustainable living - Ubunye sharing and grow its successful models

of sustainable programme models in health and young people; sustainable livelihoods around green businesses; and strong learning centres accessible for all for young

people grounded in environmental sustainability.

Strengthening the movement for caring for our earth by not only integrating green*

operations into our programmes but actively following environmental protective

ways of operating in energy efficient ways with limited carbon footprints.

*green here refers to the triple bottom line: financial profitablity; social responsibility

and environmental impact. Green businesses are aimed at ensuring underserved

populations such as women have opportunities for establishing/being employed by

profitable businesses that are grounded in environmental conservation and protection.
