My name is Ebonga Mensile from Kwandwe, and I am part of the Ubomi Bonke programme.
Since joining the programme, I have learned how to open up about my feelings and ask for help when I need it. In the past, I would keep everything to myself and not share what I was going through. Through the programme, I have developed healthier ways of managing stress and controlling my anger.
Many men in my community face challenges such as alcohol and drug abuse. These issues are often linked to the stigma that men must always be strong and never show vulnerability, regardless of the circumstances they face. Other challenges affecting young men include peer pressure and unemployment.
I take care of my mental health by staying active, attending Ubomi Bonke sessions, setting small and achievable goals for myself, and making time to rest and recharge.
