Finance Officer (Part-Time)

 

Ubunye Foundation – Makhanda, Eastern Cape

 

Ubunye Foundation is a vibrant, community-led, registered local Non-Profit Organisation based in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape. We are looking for that special person for the position of Finance Officer. This is a part-time role requiring approximately 2–3 days per week, with flexible working arrangements by agreement.

 

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to an innovative organisation committed to community leadership, while ensuring strong financial governance and compliance.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The Finance Officer will be responsible for:

    •    Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records to balance sheet level

    •    Managing accounting processes using Xero and Dext

    •    Processing payroll through SimplePay

    •    Handling statutory compliance, including SARS e-Filing

    •    Reconciling bank accounts and preparing monthly financial reports

    •    Supporting annual audits and financial reporting requirements

    •    Ensuring compliance with NPO financial governance standards

    •    Maintaining organised financial documentation and records

 

 

Minimum Requirements

    •    A minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience, including preparation to balance sheet

    •    Demonstrable working knowledge of:

    •    Xero accounting software

    •    Dext document management

    •    SimplePay payroll system

    •    SARS e-Filing

    •    Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy

    •    Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

    •    Own transport (essential)

 

 

Advantageous

    •    Experience working within a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) environment

    •    Familiarity with donor reporting and restricted funding management
