The Ubunye Foundation is an innovative and successful rural development organisation. The Foundation’s office is in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape but it works in partnership with communities in the Ngqushwa Municipality with over 22 staff members. The Foundation receives financial support from a variety of national and international funders and has a highly active and successful fund-raising division. The Finance Manager is responsible for all financial matters within the Foundation and is expected to provide financial analysis for reporting and budgets for proposals to donors quickly and accurately.
Ubunye is looking for an extremely motivated and committed Finance Manager who not only has excellent skills in financial management but a dedication to community partnerships, support for innovation and the energy and team spirit that fits into the Ubunye Foundation. They should have at least 5-year’s work experience preferably in the not-for-profit sector with knowledge and experience of HR management.
Budget and regular budget reviews – organisational and per programme
Payroll, Payroll reconciliations, monthly returns
Full monthly bookkeeping function
Processing of payments and reconciliations of account payable and bank accounts
Assisting with the financial aspects of Funding Proposals
Donor financial reporting
Managing optimal cash vs investment balances.
Oversight of Petty Cash
Annual finalisation of financial records for purpose of producing audited financial statements
Liaising with auditors and providing required information to facilitate an efficient audit
Monitoring supplier contracts
Maintenance and reconciliation of stock levels
Post qualifications and skills required:
Proficient with cloud-based accounting software (preferably Xero)
Bookkeeping/Accounting qualification and 5+ years of experience
Experience of transactional processing, reporting, budgeting, analysis of financial information with the following:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good organisational skills
Numeracy, accuracy and diligence
Good computer skills
Strong attention to detail
Patience and dedication
Good communication skills
Role will include certain Human Resource functions that closely connect with Finance
Flexible but full time contract, salary range 15k-20k depending on experience, benefits package and an opportunity to become part of a dedicated, motivated and energetic team working with local communities.
The Finance Manager will be based at Ubunye's office in Makhanda
